As we wave goodbye to the weird, wonderful, and extremely wet London Fashion Week, we’re left with a fuzzy head and dizzy eyes as we attempt to digest the outrageous accessories seen these past five days. We’re used to London serving up some risk-taking collections, but there’s really no denying that the array of peculiar hats, statement-making sunglasses, mismatched earrings, and out-there footwear really outdid itself this season.
Hitting the top spot, however, is Christopher Kane, who is notorious for the “ugly pretty” pieces he sends down the runway – remember those embellished Crocs? This time around, the designer looked to ordinary kitchen utensils and cleaning products as inspiration for his Spring/Summer 2018 earrings and footwear. The results were truly ugly. And absurdly pretty. Yellow-sponge slingbacks, anyone?
Also noteworthy is the amount of silver, patent, and sequins seen stomping down the catwalk. And when they weren’t on the runway, they were the runway (looking at you, Ashish). From dangly drop earrings at Ashley Williams to sparkly poolside-slides at House of Holland, this week proved that the 80s glamour of Fall/Winter 2017 will be sticking around for when temperatures start to heat up.
So, if you can’t decide whether you want to invest in sequins or sponges, Savoir Flair has rounded up the most show-stopping accessories of London Fashion Week in the gallery below. Be sure to check back next week for the best of Milan.
