While models storm the runway in the latest looks at Fashion Week, star-studded guest lists are often a distraction from the clothes. The front row or “FROW” is a fashion category so popular that it spawned its own abbreviation. If you want to understand the internal hierarchy (or the reason why a brand’s PR person might get chewed out for getting the seating arrangement wrong – it happens), look no further than the stylish celebrities, socialites, musicians, models, bloggers, and editors who are invited to sit in the most visible positions.

While we may have lost many of New York Fashion Week’s longstanding designers like Proenza Schouler and Altuzarra to Paris, the week-long event lost none of its incandescent swagger. The Spring/Summer 2018 shows were littered with supermodel icons like Naomi CampbellHelena Christensen, and Cindy Crawford, who was out supporting daughter Kaia’s first catwalk experience.

As always, Alexander Wang’s seasonal show attracted a roster of Insta-famous “It” girls, while hip-hop stars like Nicki Minaj and Cardi B were given the FROW treatment at Oscar de la Renta and Helmut Lang by Shayne Oliver, respectively. See who sat where at what shows during New York Fashion Week, and watch this space for upcoming FROW moments from London, Milan, and Paris.
