Have you ever walked into a room so special that you feel like it’s only right to whisper while you’re inside? Like it’s a secret that should be kept and respected? The new Chanel watch and fine-jewelry boutique evokes exactly that feeling. Located in the new luxury wing of Mall of the Emirates, the store exudes brilliance – from its wide entrance right through to the floor-to-ceiling mirrored walls. In celebration of its opening, Savoir Flair reveals four need-to-know facts about the beautiful new store.
It's designed by Peter Marino.
As with all Chanel boutiques, the new Mall of the Emirates branch has been carefully designed by talented New York-based architect Peter Marino. He worked tirelessly to ensure the 130-meter store follows the same creative narrative, using artisanal details similar to those in others of its kind.
It draws inspiration from Gabrielle Chanel's Parisian townhouse.
The boutique pays homage to the home of the woman herself, which was situated on the Faubourg Saint-Honoré. The space plays on the idea of combining intimacy, refinement, and the willingness to take risks. Contemporary art adorns the walls, while authentic antiques accent the surfaces.
It boasts custom-made furnishings.
Above the gallery section – in which Chanel’s most famous fine-jewelry collections are displayed – hang two customized rock crystal and gilt-bronze chandeliers designed by Goossens. These stunning pieces finish off the perfect setting for the ‘Bouton de Camélia’, ‘Coco Crush’, and ‘Monsieur de Chanel’ pieces.
There's a VIP room.
As if the space didn’t feel special enough, Marino has created an adjoining area that is designed to offer an exclusive, private experience to VIP customers. The room consists of an antique “Miroir aux Griffons” regency-style French mirror and a Louis XV fireplace with a mantle made of Paris stone. A coffee table by designer and sculptor Ingrid Donat rounds off the space.
