Female empowerment is on the rise in the fashion industry as designers finally clue in to the fact that sex doesn’t sell anymore – but authentic femininity does. For Cruise 2018, Chanel’s Creative Director Karl Lagerfeld tapped the vein of feminism with an overt tribute to Greek goddesses of antiquity. Models strode down the runway wearing gossamer gowns with florets and chainmail dresses, while braided head pieces wound through their hair.

It was a spectacular sight to behold, especially against a replicated backdrop of ancient Greek ruins. Accompanying these looks was an array of vibrantly hued gladiator sandals with straps that climbed up the leg, as well as equally strappy leather “gloves” that possessed an inherent “It” factor – certain to be influencer favorites.

In the gallery below, browse the best gladiator-style accessories from Chanel’s Cruise 2018 collection.
