In honor of her birthday, Savoir Flair investigates how to become more like Victoria Beckham — in five simple steps. Scroll through to read the guide to channeling Victoria Beckham.
Don't Take Things Too Seriously
“I’m smiling on the inside. I have a responsibility to the fashion community”, says Victoria Beckham in one of her interviews. Although she doesn’t look it, Victoria Beckham knows that being able to laugh at yourself is important for a modern-day woman — as evidenced by her Instagram page, which has a solid 14.7 million followers.
Learn From Your Mistakes
Victoria Beckham has learned from her past fashion faux-pas, as Posh Spice in the 90s. Her style choices have evolved from short and skimpy body-con dresses to chic and ladylike options. If you want to channel her style, Savoir Flair suggests having these in your closet: a pair of rectanglular sunglasses, midi dresses, a cashmere jumper, pleated skirts, an oversized tote that you have to carry as a clutch, and pointed pumps. More recently, Victoria has also shockingly embraced flats and incorporated a lot more color in her outfits. That’s a true tell-tale sign of being a well-rounded woman, right?
Time Management Is the Key to Happiness
While we’re on the topic of being well-rounded, Victoria Beckham manages to perform a balancing act effortlessly by following a strict schedule. She drops her kids off to school in the morning, then goes to her studio to work for the day, and then leaves at exactly 6 p.m., at which time she switches back to being the mother of a beautiful family and the wife of the wonderful David Beckham.
Roll Up Your Sleeves
Mrs. Beckham has a hands-on approach to the way she works (case in point: when Savoir Flair met her in London, the soft-spoken designer gave us a personal tour of her first stand-alone boutique on Dover Street). She has also had successful collaborations with Target and Esteé Lauder, proving her power and influence and, more importantly, that she’s not just another celebrity designer.
Do Not Show Your Right Arm
If you think you’re getting close to becoming like Victoria Beckham, think again. This guide wouldn’t be complete without acknowledging (and following) her signature red-carpet pose. If you do find yourself having a red carpet moment or just having a photo-op with the girls, do the “missing right arm” pose that Victoria does in all of her photos.
