Louis Vuitton’s most high-profile collaboration – ever – is in the works. Today, the luxury fashion house announced a major partnership with acclaimed New York-based artist Jeff Koons, who will be designing a range of bags and accessories to be launched on April 28th across Louis Vuitton boutiques globally.
Koons, who is one of the most celebrated figures in contemporary art, has reproduced some of his most illustrious works (which themselves are recreations of the finest paintings by Old Masters such as da Vinci and Van Gogh) to be printed on such iconic classics as the ‘Keepall’, ‘Speedy’, and ‘Neverfull’ bags.
The collaboration also marks the first time in history that Louis Vuitton’s monogram has been modified, with Koons recreating the iconic ‘LV’ letters to bear his own initials. Each bag will also arrive with a tag in the shape of Koons’ beloved rabbit, which has been an enduring motif of the artist’s 40-year career. This marks the first chapter in a collaboration that the brand refers to as an “ongoing project”.
Below, Koons opens up about working with the iconic brand and the motives behind his designs, which will be available in the UAE from April 28th onwards.
