“Everyone called her Coco, but her real name was Gabrielle. It’s the perfect name for a handbag that has all the codes of Chanel.”
Freedom – of movement, style, and spirit – is the key term for the ‘Gabrielle’, the latest Chanel handbag designed by Karl Lagerfeld. Endorsed by the likes of Kristen Stewart, Cara Delevingne, and Caroline de Maigret, this new style is on everyone’s lips these days – and rightfully so.
Introduced during the Spring/Summer 2017 ready-to-wear show, the ‘Gabrielle’ was inspired by both the shape of augmented-reality glasses and the binocular cases that gentlemen wear over their shoulders at the racecourse, thereby ticking the “practical” and “aesthetically pleasing” boxes with one piece. This extremely lightweight bag comes with an adjustable strap that allows for three different ways of carrying it: over the shoulder, as a crossbody, or both at the same time – let one chain go over one shoulder and then diagonally over the other. You can literally adapt this new “It” piece to any ensemble, situation, or mood.
The ‘Gabrielle’ is crafted using aged calfskin and comes in black, white, or different color combinations with versions such as a hobo, a backpack, a purse, and a large shopper. “Everyone called her Coco, but her real name was Gabrielle. It’s the perfect name for a handbag that has all the codes of Chanel,” explains Lagerfeld. And we couldn’t agree more.
