For Spring 2017 Couture, Zuhair Murad set off a blazing fireworks display inside the Hôtel Potocki. Okay, you caught us, we weren’t being literal, but we may as well have been for all of the thunderous, scene-stealing surprises that burst forth on Murad’s runway.
Crystal embellishment, lavish embroidery, dense beading, and a clinging floor-length silhouette are the designer’s signatures, but this season, he branches out to include a wonderful new element: deeply saturated jewel tones. Tonally, the collection proceeds from inky black gowns formed with stiff, padded peplums and decorated in bursts of firework-inspired beading to vixen red volumes, and from there he introduces fuchsia, emerald green, cobalt blue, and champagne sparkle.
It’s no wonder that the most glamorous, confident women in the world turn to Murad for their red carpet, wedding, and social needs – his gowns are guaranteed to turn heads.
Each segment, dictated by a change in color, contains numerous styles. His black gowns and cocktail dresses offer edgy accents like stiff ruffled sleeves stitched with metallic beading, while his red looks came with thigh-high slits, massive draped sashes, and asymmetrical ruffles. Murad’s fuchsia and lavender looks were especially fetching, and treated the traditional ballgown silhouette to extravagant accents like immense bows and ruffled overlays. The glam, glitz, and glitter didn’t stop, and culminated in a mile-wide wedding gown with a spangled crown-and-veil. It’s no wonder that the most glamorous, confident women in the world turn to Murad for their red carpet, wedding, and social needs – his gowns are guaranteed to turn heads.
