It was back in 1981 that Carolina Herrera showcased her first collection at the Metropolitan House in New York City and, today, the legendary designer continues to bring her impeccable brand of uptown refinement to the runways. Marking her 35th anniversary in the industry this year, the 77-year-old visionary has been celebrating with the launch of a beautiful new accessories collection entitled ‘Insignia’, which she introduces in the video above, shared exclusively with Savoir Flair.
Watch as Herrera takes you through the thought process behind the launch and her approach to wearing the pieces within, and take notes as it makes for an easily accessible way to snag a piece for yourself. Alongside this collection, the House of Herrera has also launched a limited-edition fragrance and comprehensive coffee-table book, both paying tribute to the brand’s illustrious past.

The Limited-Edition Fragrance
To commemorate the brand’s 35th anniversary, Herrera worked with Master Perfumer Carlos Benaim to create a stunning reinterpretation of the first and original ‘Carolina Herrera Fragrance’ (launched in 1988) in an exclusive and limited-edition ‘Herrera Confidential’ bottle. The new, reworked formula has been given a modern twist with a dreamy dose of jasmine and tuberose, making for a sophisticated and feminine fragrance that not only smells alluring, but also looks it. The only problem is actually getting your hands on this stunning perfume, as there are only 100 pieces available in the Middle East. But if you are one of the lucky few, you’ll forever own a piece of Carolina Herrera history – and smell pretty great in the process.
The Coffee-Table Book
Herrera has helped define American elegance for over three and a half decades, with her one-of-a-kind designs capturing the hearts of everyone from first ladies to international royalty. The new book, Carolina Herrera: 35 Years of Fashion, is not only a look back at the designer’s legacy, but also a celebration of her designs to come. While the gaze is unmistakably forward, the chapters have been organized into signatures of Herrera’s work from the 1980s, including archival images as well as interviews with colleagues and friends. It’s a great place to find unique tidbits about the house, including the fact that Herrera is one of the few American designers to still employ a couture-trained atelier team, as explained by Milan-based fashion and design journalist J.J. Martin.
