For Spring/Summer 2017, Andraya Farrag envisioned the Bedouin girl traveling to Marrakech, with her latest pieces bearing names like ‘Rock the Kasbah’ and ‘Desert Dweller’. The designer was inspired by Moroccan culture and nomadic Berbers, infusing her own contemporary and minimalist aesthetic into the creation of this new collection. Each ensemble – with its unique textures, directional cuts and details, and luxurious fabrics – was created with the modern traveler in mind, transitioning easily from day to night.
This weekend, guests and industry insiders at Fashion Forward will be given the opportunity to see these traits play out up close and personal. “I’m really looking forward to bringing this collection, which I like to call ‘The Urban Nomad’, to life at this season’s Fashion Forward. You can expect to see a unique combination of textures created from rich, jacquard fabrics and delicate silks, which make the collection both luxurious and easy to wear. My vision was to create pieces that can be effortlessly used for any occasion, allowing the Bedouin girl to exude positive energy and a free spirit, no matter where she is,” Farrag tells Savoir Flair.
