A look at global street style wouldn’t be complete without a sampling of looks from the pavements outside the Spring/Summer 2017 shows in fashion capitals such as Paris and Milan. Street style, however, can be found in cities the world over. With recent Fashion Weeks taking place in Seoul, Copenhagen, and Stockholm, there were plenty of chic looks to choose from. We also couldn’t resist a virtual visit to the streets of Los Angeles to see what’s cooking in the City of Angels.
Savoir Flair’s regular investigation of street style in cities across the globe offers a diverse look at how real women are wearing this season’s pieces while paying homage to trends dominating the major fashion centers. Browse through the gallery below to see what silhouettes, shapes, colors, and accessories are seizing the popular imagination in Seoul, Copenhagen, London, Los Angeles, Milan, Paris, Russia, and Stockholm.
Seoul
Seoul might not be one of the world’s major fashion capitals, but women in this vibrant South Korean metropolis take style very seriously. With Seoul Fashion Week recently wrapping its seventh season, the shows and street style in the city are only getting stronger.
Copenhagen
Copenhagen’s perpetually cooler climate and seaside location means full-coverage looks reign supreme all year round. The stylish residents of Denmark’s capital city love elegant knitwear and chic, understated classics.
London
London enjoys a lofty position on the fashion food chain, hosting one of Fashion Month’s most eccentric and vibrant weeks (London Fashion Week). It also boasts one of the best design schools in the world – Central Saint Martins. As such, style is an obsession for its residents. You’ll find an eclectic mix of styles ranging from punk to princess, and everything in between.
Los Angeles
Sunny Los Angeles is home to both hipsters and major A-list celebrities, which speaks to the mash-up of styles seen on its streets. Here, a casual and laid-back attitude permeates street style, with women preferring comfort, practicality, and a hint of sex appeal thrown in for good measure.
Milan
Milan is a very fashion-conscious city – even its men are obsessed with turning heads on the street. With high-end labels proudly on display, Milan street style hosts a broad range of ensembles that center on feminine silhouettes, luxurious fabrics, and trendy accessories.
Paris
Paris is undoubtedly the fashion center of the world. While we tend to think of Parisians as possessing ineffable and timeless style, there has been something of a renaissance on its streets lately, with experimental and fashion-forward looks overtaking classic styles.
Russia
Like Milan, residents in major Russian cities love their status labels and have no qualms about going all out for a stroll down the street. Dramatic elements like unexpected pops of color on a coat pocket or exaggerated sleeves prove that street style here is keeping pace with global trends in the industry.
Stockholm
Visitors to Stockholm are always impressed with the way people in the city dress – they are known for their impeccable, understated style. The inherent “cool” factor in Stockholm street style comes from the fact that women in the city love to incorporate a single on-trend piece into a classic look, meaning they never look like they’re trying too hard.
