The popularity of Alessandro Michele’s Gucci does not seem to be fading anytime soon – and considering the winning streak he is on, why would it? There was no shocking big twist in the new collection, which was showcased yesterday in Milan, and the designer stuck to his now-signature style, albeit with the accents turned up a notch. That being said, there was no denying Michele’s enthusiasm and commitment to quality, as well as his level of attention to detail, which won over even the most adamant non-believers.
For Spring/Summer 2017, the decor of the show venue set the tone for what was to come. Dim lighting, smoke machines, and a stunning overload of pink teleported the viewer to a high-end club. These borderline-surreal elements, paired with the OTT yet oddly appealing ensembles, came together to evoke a glitzy 70s celebrity hangout.
