Mind games, mysticism, and millennial behavior – these are the ingredients that came together to inspire Iranian fashion designer Orchid Ganji of Orkalia for Fall/Winter 2016. Her design notes, which document her brainstorming process for the new collection, riff on topics such as human psychology and social anxiety. They’re even accompanied by excerpts from The Theory of the Leisure Class by Thorstein Veblen. As they say, thoughts become things – and it’s these thoughts that were translated by Ganji into a collection that is a nod to the concept of headspace and being at peace with yourself.

Finished with surrealist touches and undertones of mysticism, the pieces promise to toy with your mind and your heart. Talking to Savoir Flair about the collection, the designer reveals, “Instead of forcing ourselves into a pre-cast mold to fit into society, it establishes a special focus on comfort to help rediscover personal character. The collection is more of a celebration of finding contemplative headspace and, surrealistically, turning pink!”
