Standing alongside the likes of Elie Saab, Reem Acra, and Zuhair Murad, Basil Soda was inarguably one of the biggest players in the Middle Eastern fashion industry. The designer helped put Lebanon at the forefront of the fashion world after dressing Hollywood notables such as Emily Blunt and Marion Cotillard for the red carpet.
How he started out is a story that many are familiar with. Soda began his fashion career in 2000 after gaining work experience with Elie Saab. From there, he went on to establish his namesake label and opened his showroom in 2008, which was created in collaboration with interior architect Dany Aoun.
The showroom, with its sleek, elegant, and minimalist feel, is spread across three floors, including an atelier that houses over 60 employees. A representative of the brand told Savoir Flair that everything is done in-house in order to ensure the highest quality of work for its clients, who are based in cities such as Dubai, New York, Moscow, and Hong Kong.
Even after the passing of the talented designer last year, Soda’s impressive legacy lives on. In fact, the brand recently showcased its Fall/Winter 2016 ready-to-wear collection at the Four Seasons Resort in Dubai, bringing together the media, the city’s most stylish faces, and other high-profile attendees. Today, Savoir Flair is taking you on an exclusive tour of Basil Soda’s showroom, which is located in the Horch Tabet neighborhood of Beirut.
