There’s something about Tiffany & Co.’s 2016 ‘Masterpieces’ collection that recalls a trip to the most luxurious candy shop imaginable, which only adds to its appeal. Colorful, creative, and utterly wearable, these pieces are high jewelry at its finest. In her approach to the collection, Design Director Francesca Amfitheatrof tackled two themes to produce multifaceted creations that celebrate the brand’s rich design heritage and masterful craftsmanship.
‘Tiffany Prism’, one of the two themes, draws inspiration from the talents of the company’s very first design director, Louis Comfort Tiffany, who was revered for his brilliant use of light and color. Under this theme, rare gems in unexpected, delicious hues represent the brand’s legacy in the form of disco-ball cocktail rings and necklaces and can be worn both day and night. If you’ve ever heard of tsavorite or spessartite, you’re right to anticipate a truly vibrant composition of stones.
‘Tiffany Ribbons’, in contrast, represents a more classic approach, turning to the timeless elegance of Audrey Hepburn for inspiration. The jewelry pieces in this line are made of platinum and diamonds, draping and cascading in a dramatic way to follow the wearer’s body for a sensual yet utterly elegant look.
