There are times when a design, no matter how eccentric, becomes so popular that fashionados around the world not only embrace it, but overuse it like there’s no tomorrow. This is the exact phenomenon that happened to the John Galliano-designed Saddle’ bag by Dior, a style hugely popular in the 90s and beyond. Considered the definitive arm candy of its era, it was available in almost every color and pattern imaginable. Fashion-savvy celebrities and fashion editors alike were either sporting the ‘Saddle’ or had it firmly planted on their wish lists.

And then there was silence.

Now, with the current craze for all things 90s – everything from slip dresses and chokers to rebranded fanny packs – we’re starting to wonder if this former “It” bag is set to make a comeback. We all know that Carrie Bradshaw was a fan. And as it turns out, so are the likes of Beyonce and Lily Aldridge, who are both treasuring this Dior classic all over again. If you already own one, it might be time to smugly dig it out of the depths of your closet. And if not, there has never been a better time to hit the vintage shops for a treasure hunt.

Either way, a browse through Savoir Flair’s gallery to see tastemakers giving new life to the ‘Saddle’ bag will do you good.
