When the 52-year travel ban on Cuba was lifted in 2012, interest in the previously isolated country reached a fever pitch. However, no fashion brand was as swift to mark its territory in Cuba as Chanel, who announced last year that it would be holding its Cruise 2017 show in Havana on May 3, 2016.
Not satisfied with being the first major luxury brand to showcase a collection in Cuba, Chanel has gone one step further to include a sprawling exhibition by Karl Lagerfeld at the Factoría Habana called “Obra en Proceso / Work in Progress”. The exhibition, which will coincide with the Cruise showcase and run from April 28th to May 12th, is divided into three sections representing Lagerfeld’s interests in fashion, architecture, and landscapes as told by more than 200 photographs taken by the intrepid designer. Keep up with the exhibition and Chanel’s presentation in Cuba by searching #ChanelCruiseCuba and #FactoriaHabana on social media.
