Beirut, Lebanon was once considered the “Paris of the Middle East” due in large part to its thriving cultural and intellectual life, as well as its fashionable nightlife. In the modern day, there are still echoes of the French spirit found throughout the city’s stylish shopping and art districts, a fact that is supported by the Lebanese outpost of Parisian concept boutique LE66 Champs Élysées, which is located in the heart of downtown Beirut.
With that in mind, LE66 tapped Racil Chalhoub – the Lebanese designer behind Racil, a brand known for its impeccably tailored suiting and strong menswear silhouettes, who grew up in Paris – for a special photoshoot in Copenhagen. The resulting images introduce the boutique’s Spring/Summer 2016 offering and celebrate the summer season with vibrant colors, graphic elements, and a hip 1970s rock ‘n’ roll vibe. Reflecting on the experience of the collaboration, Chalhoub tells Savoir Flair, “Since I launched my brand last year, I hardly have the time to do anything else! This collaboration with LE66 Beirut was a refreshing project, which I really enjoyed. It was so nice to work with a great team and have the chance to work on something super playful. I loved it all – except the cold!”
