OTT doesn’t stand for “over the top” for no reason. This Dubai-based label – with its infamous anonymous designer – knows how to thrill and titillate and reliably offers up wildly imaginative patterns, palettes, and fabrics every season. However, for Spring/Summer 2016, change is in the air. Although you can still count on OTT for a heavy dose of fashion fantasy, this stunning collection opts out of theatrics in favor of amplified femininity.
This collection marries together spirited festival clothes with fantasy elements – almost as if a Burning Man participant took a detour through Wonderland. Peasant blouses are bonded with crepe and georgette chiffon, while a billowing double-breasted cape is finished with denim and scattered with florals. Folk elements also make their presence known on lavishly embroidered pieces, which are constructed according to traditional Hungarian techniques. This is the softer side of OTT and, frankly, we’re smitten.
