With timeless, classic accessories that recalled the house’s core aesthetic and identity, Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2016 show oozed grace. Karl Lagerfeld’s collection of hats for the new season have been the talk of the industry since yesterday’s show, where flat-top bowler hats dominated the runway in a range of colors, from pale pink to red and black, and sported chic details like pearl-adorned fastenings, camelias, and brooches placed on leather wrist straps.
The house’s signature layered pearl necklaces came in a variety of styles with a number of different details and accents on each, from bows to brooches, which Lagerfeld used to turn this classic must-have into an even more covetable, of-the-moment piece.
No Chanel collection is complete without a new crop of handbags to lust after, and this season they came in the shape of pencil cases, iPad cases, and thread rolls or simply updated with the most gorgeous tweeds. As for footwear, Lagerfeld drove home his message of democratization of fashion by making a statement with comfortable footwear. His riding boots came in different tweeds or subtle leathers that ranged from black to a gorgeous champagne hue with a slight pearlized finish.
