Anthony Vaccarello’s M.O. has become crystal clear – short, sexy, rock ‘n’ roll, and mostly NSFW.

After five years at Paris Fashion Week, Anthony Vaccarello’s M.O. has become so crystal clear – short, sexy, rock ‘n’ roll, and mostly NSFW – as to be almost entirely predictable. Luckily for him, predictable and covetable are two words that can both be used to describe his Fall/Winter 2016 collection.

Semi-sheer shirts with double pockets on each side, wide-legged pants, and blazers stand out as some of the most desirable pieces in the collection for the modern-day woman. Vaccarello also put his own spin on the underwear-as-outerwear trend by presenting a gorgeous corset under a suit.

The usual suspects, leather, laces, and metallic hardware, were present in abundance, with the latter two holding together pieces of fabric that looked as though they were ready to come apart and fall off the models’ frames. In fact, details you would normally expect to find cinching in a woman’s waist on a corset were used to pull together sleeves, skirts, and shoulder straps. Crystal flowers brought a feminine touch to the collection, but only in a “Who you callin’ a lady?” kind of way.

Anthony Vaccarello, like many of his peers, seems to create solely for the strong, long-limbed amazons that reside in the imaginary world of our Instagram feeds. While his designs lack the darker, seedier side of Hedi Slimane’s, if the rumors of his appointment at Saint Laurent do turn out to be true, no one will be able to say, “I didn’t see that one coming!”
