Mochi, one of the region’s most sought-after brands, debuts its Pre-Fall 2016 collection today on Moda Operandi. To mark this important milestone for the young brand, Savoir Flair caught up with founder and designer Ayah Tabari to get her thoughts on the debut.
“For Mochi, being on Moda Operandi is a huge opportunity as so many great designers I aspire to are featured week in, week out on the website, so to be among them is really quite special. I’m also excited to see the response and reaction to the new Pre-Fall 2016 collection.”
The collection is a rich mix of vibrant patterns and hand embroidery from the regions of Jaipur, Palestine, Uzbekistan, and Spain, with new key silhouettes and fun details like detachable tassels in an array of pastel colors. Tabari adds, “My favorite look from the collection would have to be the Spanish embroidered balloon top. I know I’m biased, but I could wear it every day.”
It’s worth noting that Moda Operandi is also offering pre-order on the collections of two fellow Middle Eastern designers this week, namely Maison Rabih Kayrouz and Zuhair Murad, which we can’t help but see as an indication of the growing place of the Middle East in the international fashion industry.
