Liu Wen, subsequently recognized for her beauty and talent, has been breaking ground ever since she first entered the modeling industry. In 2014, Wen was tapped to be one of the faces of La Perla’s ad campaigns and has been the regular and welcome face of the brand ever since. As the star of its new bridal collection, she is the first to represent the brand’s new direction. With the appointment of a new Creative Director, Brazilian designer Pedro Lourenço, La Perla aims to expand beyond lingerie and beachwear to include sleepwear, loungewear, and accessories.
In this exclusive interview, Wen talks to Savoir Flair about her thoughts on La Perla, the importance of lingerie, and more.
How important is lingerie for women? Why should we invest in it?
Lingerie is what ends up closest to your body, so you also need to keep it close to your heart. And since it’s such an intimate thing, it deserves extra care and investment.

What have you learned about lingerie since you started working with the brand?
The importance of confidence. La Perla helped me understand that a woman can showcase her true self the best when she possesses confidence.
What is the biggest misconception women have about lingerie?
The biggest misconception is that, because it can remain unseen, you don’t have to care about its look or quality as much.
How do you make lingerie work as everyday outerwear?
For everyday wear, because the material is usually comfortable and sheer, you can counter it with skin-tight bottoms or take advantage of neutral palettes by contrasting with something very colorful.
