To call Ashi Studio’s new Spring/Summer 2016 collection “beautiful” or “gorgeous” would only serve to highlight the failure of language to describe the true nature of things. Maybe “regal” or “unbelievably stunning” would be more accurate. Ashi Studio’s offerings are the kind of beauty you feel, not the beauty you describe with boring human words. With great care, Lebanese designer Mohammed Ashi sculpts the most fantastical lines that hold their shape like petals enveloping the fragile curves of the body.
According to the lookbook’s opening tale, Ashi designed the collection inspired by “the story of a princess who, while moving through lands of wonders and waiting for her knight, becomes him, becomes the Warrior. Floral garlands climb high, blooming on her dress, while layers of fabric, frills, and feathers wrap around her as sheaths shielding her.” Etched with delicate embroidery, these architectural gowns are the stuff dreams are made of.
