From the first look, it's clear that the designer's craftsmanship and ability to flatter the female body is central to his wide-spreading fame among the elite.
What is love? A battlefield, a many splendored thing, an illusion? For Spring 2016 Couture, Zuhair Murad‘s take on love is altogether different. Framed by his “Amour en Cage” collection, Murad’s version of love is a cage from which you cannot escape, but since love is the strongest, most wonderful force in the universe, why would you want to? Although a “love cage” might sound a bit frightful at first, a scroll through his breathtakingly beautiful collection will assuage your fears. The cage on Murad’s runway is literal, comprising the skirts of his ethereal dresses and forcing a curving bell-shaped silhouette at the hips. It is an exaggeration of femininity that befits his sparkling trellises and flower-strewn gowns — the whole presentation simmers and aches of romance.
To demonstrate Murad’s knack for enchantment, there are dozens of lavish, sensual iterations of formalwear in shades of ivory, blush pink, pale peach, periwinkle, taupe, citron, and salmon pink — each one scored with crystal embellishment, beautiful branches of embroidery, and floral paillettes and appliqués. There’s even a suit featuring a floor-length jacket and cropped trousers in the mix. The silhouette is womanly and seductive, with the aforementioned cage crafting the shape of Murad’s skirts, with close-fitting bodices that emphasized the curvature of the dress’s bottom half.
The whole presentation simmers and aches of romance.
