Jarrar's methods whisper, while others shout, and it is in the quiet confidence of her collections that we find some of the best looks at Paris Haute Couture Week.

When most people think of couture, they think of lavish ball gowns covered in a rich tapestry of expensive embellishment, but rarely do they think of couture being a really beautifully tailored pair of trousers. For that reason, Bouchra Jarrar has long provided an important perspective on the Paris Haute Couture Week calendar. Her collections are impeccably crafted, but fall on the more sensible side of fashion. Instead of gowns and glamour, she faithfully delivers covetable separates, like tailored jackets and perfectly cut trousers. You could even go so far as to say she is the hippest couturier in the world. For Spring 2016 Couture, Jarrar’s sublime 22-piece collection is flawless from head-to-toe, packed with thick, beautiful military jackets decorated with gold trim and fur, stunning outerwear, and diaphanous little dresses.

While Jarrar’s polished perfection might not fall under the category of glamour that one instantly associates with couture, the understated beauty of her clothes contain their own quiet glamour — the kind that has a woman in a stunning houndstooth coat stealing the spotlight from a socialite in a ruffled tulle dress. This isn’t to say Jarrar can’t do eveningwear, but her refined, subtle take on it is far different than what her peers purvey. For Spring 2016 Couture, Jarrar sneaks beautiful, feminine elements into her collection by way of fragile lace accents (including a completely sheer Chantilly lace dress), and a silky two-piece look that at first glance could be mistaken for a slip dress.
