Blugirl’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection, titled ‘My Many Selves’, represented a thoughtful exploration of the multi-faceted characteristics of female life. Designer Anna Molinari populated her line-up with many characters: charming prep school girls, androgynous tomboys, hardworking teacher types, sultry femme fatales, and boardroom executives. The diverse array of subjects made for a versatile presentation, and provided practical, beautiful, high-quality wardrobe options that could easily be mixed and matched, thereby extending one’s investment an extra mile.
Blugirl’s FW15 collection, titled ‘My Many Selves’, represented a thoughtful exploration of the multi-faceted characteristics of female life.
Preppy looks were identified by oversized plaid coats, wool sweatervests, multi-colored brogue footwear, polo tops, and checkered wool skirts, while the authoritarian counterpart was represented with coordinated printed separates and polished three-piece looks. The power pairing of a multi-colored fur coat with subtly checked or pinstriped suiting might appeal to the boardroom executive. The tomboys were given a mix of fawn-colored suede looks that fit the boy-girl mood, but it was the vixen who had the most options. Sensual looks ran from gorgeous column gowns done in vibrant pastels printed with still-life scenery and glittering multi-colored sequin separates to sheer embroidered dresses and jazzy metallic tinsel-and-fur coats. One ornate gown whose gleaming metallic silk fabric was festooned with vivid floral prints made an especially lovely impression, while a romantic pairing of prints and patterns ended the show on a sublime note. Although the sum total of your many selves might not be portrayed in the Blugirl collection, perhaps aspects will resonate with all of the variation offered up by Molinari.
