A high dose of glamour was on display at Roksanda’s Fall/Winter 2015 show. Roksanda Ilincic’s status as master colorist ruled the mood of the presentation with psychedelic swirls of maroon, bubble gum pink, grape, tobacco, acid orange, and royal blue crafting a sensory experience unlike any other. Her vivid tapestries cast a mesmerizing spell as the tale of the Technicolor Dreamcoat unfurled on deep-pile furs, woven prints, and polished tweeds.
It began with trim dresses covered in multi-colored geometry worn over plain or color-blocked turtlenecks and accessorized with flashy fur scarves or fuzzy foldover bags. The effect was genuinely stunning. From there Ilincic introduces the collection’s most exciting look: uber-plush fur coats in varying lengths that sported multi-colored ripples. Make no mistake, they were intense, but the fashion elite who want to make a statement would be hard-pressed to find a look more vibrant. Quieter moments were filled with polished tweed dresses that were flipped along the side to reveal vivid lining, chic peplum jackets, embossed skirts, colorful culottes, and two-toned jumpsuits. The silhouette was clean and curvy, featuring a slim waistline and fuller hip, which added grace and femininity to Ilincic’s powerful looks. The consensus after the show was shared by all: Ilincic has fully come into her own as a designer, and Fall/Winter 2015 was her most accomplished feat to date.
