Holly Fulton’s Fall/Winter 2015 presentation exults in femininity and glamor, tossing trends to the wind and opting instead to explore just how good it feels to take pride in one’s appearance. This meant styled-to-the-nines clothes that were dripping in crystals, fur, and lace – the kind of look that screams “starlet” even if you’ve never set foot on the red carpet.
If it weren’t for Mongolian furs, polished toppers, and printed trapeze coats, Fulton’s look would have been more appropriate for springtime. In sweet pastel shades, her clothes shimmered with life, but most looks were centered on barely-there slip dresses, which will be tricky to pull off in winter. A beautiful, fluffy fur coat combined with a delicate slip dress launched the show, and from thereon we were treated to princess pleated frocks, slinky slips, sheer embroidered maxi dresses, and tops made from twisted silk chiffon. Fulton’s best looks combined excess with wearability, like long-sleeved mini-dresses upholstered with crystal paillettes, printed flared skirts, and gorgeous high-waisted relaxed trousers. Forget demurity and embrace flashy, self-assured beauty for Fall/Winter 2015; Fulton’s got the look on lockdown.
