Six seasons in and it’s clear that Bahraini label Noon by Noor has hit its stride. Now that it’s a rank-and-file member of the New York set, Noon by Noor’s Fall/Winter 2015 collection exalted a new type of confidence, one that doesn’t compete in a sea of mimicking voices, but that stands on its own in solidarity with the individual. This pitch-perfect presentation is glossy, shiny, attitudinal, and everything we want to wear right this minute.
Earthy metallics reigned supreme for Fall/Winter 2015, with the label boasting an enticing textural line-up of shiny silks, glossy leathers, metallic foil, sparkling brocade, and crystal-embellished surfaces. The collection developed with the marriage of tomboyish elements, like bronze metallic jackets, sporty silk bombers, glossy trenches, and glassy laser-cut raingear, paired with breezy silk skirts, glittering mini skirts, and embroidered shift dresses. From as early on as the first look, we knew we were in love. The hip utilitarian nature of the clothes, combined with a refined, minimalist aesthetic and shiny, glazed palette stood out from everything else that’s been presented at New York Fashion Week so far. Each ensemble seemed easy to wear, but self-possessed and avant-garde in its own unique way. Noon by Noor signatures crept in toward the end, with a series of printed-silk mini dresses, jewel-toned separates decorated with embellished clusters, and easeful gowns that fused the abaya silhouette with modern elements like cropped midriffs, sparkling embellishment, and cracked-foil fabric. With this brilliant collection, it became abundantly clear that Noon by Noor designers Sheikha Haya and Sheikha Noor Al Khalifa were now masters of their craft.
