Alexandre Vauthier’s much-anticipated Spring 2015 Couture presentation sent a smoking, sizzling collection of body-conscious looks down the runway. Vauthier’s first time on the couture schedule at the official invitation of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture brought out the daring side of the designer, as he bared the body with binding fabric that dipped to reveal taut tummies, hips, and chests. It was apparent from the outset that the 1970s glam-rock vibe of recent runways had been foremost in Vauthier’s mind. His interpretation was wicked and witchy, pairing silk black capes with emerald-green crocodile minis and slinky dresses with knee-high black leather boots.
In juxtaposition to the feminine and sensual side of his collection, Vauthier paired many looks with loose, masculine tuxedo jackets. Glossy leathers and fully sequined looks turned up the heat of the collection as well, especially with one look that featured jet-black flames licking across the body on a sheer, sequined mini dress. Gone were the wild prints of last season, but Vauthier kept his love for emerald alive with plenty of skintight dresses and toppers in the hue. With so much power and seduction at his fingertips, it’s clear to see why Vauthier invites the loyalty of pop goddesses like Rihanna and Beyoncé. You know you want to see Queen Yoncé rocking that black, glittering, strapped ball gown in her next brain-searing music video.
