After a decade of improving the quality of red carpet couture, Marchesa returns to its British roots by showing at London Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 2015. This one-off show crackled with springtime energy, with the season’s themes of rebirth and renewal interpreted in gorgeous floral embroidery, bird prints, and oversized flowers. Yet for all of the haute-hippie looks made of woven lace and gauzy chiffon, there was a dark romance that ran through the presentation. Sheer, embroidered gowns, foiled metallic brocade shifts, and glittering fringe cover-ups added rich, luxurious allure to Marchesa’s head-spinning presentation and impressed us with its dreamy, fairytale qualities.
Although, once more, the red carpet will surely benefit from being graced by celebrities in Marchesa, the brand does bring forward wearable looks for day, like a tailored ivory blazer paired with a full silk skirt. Marchesa’s appeal has always been how incredibly beautiful its clothes are. The techniques aren’t innovative or game changing, but they will absolutely stun you with their beauty. Spring/Summer 2015 is no different, with its yards of lace, organza, tulle, chiffon, appliqués, silks, and rosettes – these are clothes to wear when you want to feel divine, untouchable, and gorgeous.
