For Spring/Summer 2015, Zac Posen shows his version of minimalism and the results are sleek and satisfying. With more of a mind toward daywear than usual, Posen presents elegantly tailored suit separates, trim shift dresses, and off-shoulder cocktail gowns that are ideal wardrobe choices for the modern woman. With a simple palette of cream, jet black, and fire-engine red, Posen advanced 28 high-polish looks that emphasized structure and tailoring rather than extravagant embellishment.
This refined aesthetic is a smart move for Posen, who is known more for red carpet gowns than, say, workwear-appropriate suits. What Posen eschewed for embellishment, he made up for with texture by working knit weaves into his lustrous looks. However, Posen doesn’t abandon his fantasy side altogether and shows a series of stunning looks for evening, which include several sculptured, sleeveless gowns, and a serene off-shoulder wedding dress to close. Posen’s restraint for Spring/Summer 2015 will serve the designer well, as it highlights his ability to craft smooth, wearable clothes that work in practical settings.
