Yesterday, we saw 40 shades (of organza) from Scottish fashion designer Christopher Kane. More specifically, for his Fall/Winter 2014 collection, the designer used up to 40 layers of chain-stitched organza to create origami-esque dresses that were nothing short of astonishing.
And then there was the double-breasted blushing-pink coat sprinkled with crystals in look 30. From shocking pink to pale lilacs, pink is the color du jour on the runway and the sidewalks, and this was one of the best examples of an elegant twist on a very on-trend color. But Kane’s collection was by no means Barbie-esque; to offset his use of the pastel shade the designer made sure to include humble black nylons, puffer vests, and slim, schoolboy trousers, which suggested a moody, winter romance versus a flirty summertime fling. The standout accessories included Kane’s top-handle tote and flat-pointed Chelsea boots, which will make the sartorial-obsessed darlings around the world’s hearts beat faster – just like they might experience turning the page of their favorite naughty novel.
