Phillip Lim’s inspiration for Fall/Winter 2014 orbited around a fictional woman named Soleil. “She’s a culturally curious woman that lives in a world between instant pop and culture,” Lim summed up.

The Phillip Lim brand has made a name for itself on its ability to capture the laid-back-yet-elegant aesthetic of a chic New York City native. Boxy silhouettes, double-breasted coats, and basic trousers and knits cut from plush fabrics are Lim’s signature, and they appeared alongside pops of color in unexpected places, suggesting that New Yorkers should add an eclectic twist to their winter wardrobe. This came in the form of lavender fur lapels and graffiti-inspired motifs. Accessories included patent-leather lace-up boots and oversized belts, which contributed to Lim’s sunny, pop-tastic touch point this season.
