For her Fall/Winter 2014 collection, Victoria Beckham channels just the right amount of “girl power”. In seasons past, Beckham has been acutely aware of moving away from the body-conscious silhouettes she was known for during her pop icon days, favoring the complete opposite end of the style spectrum for her pieces: androgyny.
This season, the designer’s sumptuous fabrics – organza, silk, cashmere – are combined with accents such as gold chain detailing and oversized blooms, georgette goddess gowns, and cozy cowl-neck sweaters to hit a balance of subtle, feminine elegance without losing any of the brand’s utilitarian underpinnings. Case and point: the oversized coats, array of trousers, severe silhouettes, and predominately monochromatic palette. The end result? A very posh collection – in a good way.
