Giorgio Armani’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection proved that American sportswear’s breezy beauty could be easily adapted by one of Italy’s most famous luxury brands. Textured neutrals, met with slicker shades of hot pink, royal blue, and purple, created a collection that melded the practical with the pretty.
Armani’s genial gentlewomen will soon enjoy tailored, lightweight short-and-jacket combinations in nubby neutral fabrics – a look that is slightly tomboyish and very charming. Gauzy frocks featuring blurry abstract prints, floral printed halter-neck tunics and skimpy slip dresses establish a feminine foundation for the collection, but it’s the paillette-adorned cardigans, sheer toppers, and floral printed jackets that help drive home the ladylike message. Working with an hourglass silhouette, a lovely arrangement of sheer, embroidered, and floral printed fabrics give this collection a quiet strength. A strong-willed but sweet-tempered woman was Armani’s muse for this collection, and his homage is a wearable tribute to the side of femininity that loves both appreciating beauty and being beautiful.
