It may already be September, but Michael Kors brought visions of a summer romance to the forefront of our thoughts with his Spring/Summer 2014 collection.
More specifically, Kors provided the ideal outfits to wear during that idyllic summer fling. Think striped, cotton boyfriend T-shirts and indigo, bonded denim shorts for an adventurous bike ride, pearl mohair cardigans, linen skirts, and crepe dresses for a sunset picnic on the beach, and a draped, maillot gown with chunky, gutsy city sandals, and one of Kors’ soft, structured clutches acting as the perfect companion for a love-struck evening of al fresco dining.
Separates made up of white hemp linen, including wide-leg trousers and double-breasted jackets, kept the collection tailored, while rustic raffia hand embroideries, dashes of polka dot, and micro-paillette florals added indulgent, sweet touches. A vintage-style, daisy-printed, high-rise bikini brought us back to the beaches of the 1940s – a time of glamorous swimwear frocks and rounded, womanly pinup girls.
With Mama Cass’ “Dream a Little Dream of Me” serenading the audience and natural beauty Katie Holmes sitting on the front row of the show, nodding her head in blissful approval as flouncy dresses floated by, Kors undoubtedly achieved the soft, sumptuous attitude he set out to provoke for Spring 2014.
