Designers Federico Piaggi and Stefano Citron have never lacked for confidence when it came to presenting their collections for Gianfranco Ferré, and their Fall/Winter 2013 offerings are their most assertive yet. Achieved with dizzyingly complex drapes and structured tailoring, this collection comes together under the guise of artistic minimalism, but the conceit is how maximal the shapes really are.
Their complicated, architectural arrangements still read crisp, mostly because of the starchy, sturdy fabrics the design duo uses. They play with symmetry, pushing things off-kilter to make their visuals more enticing, and they work with some really neat necklines and logic-defying wrapped-and-draped techniques. There is a strong, almost-warrior like feel to this collection and this blends a certain tribal strength with a look toward futuristic garmenture. Hip, strong, and feminine looks abound in this gorgeous collection. What a note to close the season on.
