Diane von Furstenberg is so current she even has a hashtag to go with her latest collection. #GlamRock is its alias, and it deftly blends party frocks with 70s-inspired disco glam, print-on-print sophistication with breezy fabrics. This is Studio 54 for 2013, and trust us when we say it’s an accurate interpretation. DVF has survived both the rise and fall of 54 and the many imitators it has spawned since. Some looks literally translate a disco ball, with pinpricks of light printed on sheer chiffon, while others merely reinvent the lean silhouette of the 70s for the modern day.
Metallic separates in bronze and fuchsia, mixed-print layers, fiery pantsuits, and loose bohemian gowns dominate the DVF runway. Her palette is rich and playful, filled with mauve, pink, sky-blue, and navy pieces. Her textures are as mixed and matched as her prints with looks sporting wool, fur, suede, and chiffon – often on a single outfit. This isn’t a collection for the homebody or the wallflower. Instead, DVF’s collection makes us want to go out and mix it up, shake it on the dance floor, and stay up all night. With Diane von Furstenberg on your side, you have excuse not to be glamorous and spontaneous.
