With the rumor mill spinning with predictions of Hedi Slimane’s departure from the brand, and following its flooding of Twitter with a series of posts last night, Saint Laurent is the name on every editor’s lips today. While no one yet knows exactly what’s going on at the Parisian house, the one thing that’s clear is that it’s not letting any gossip get in the way of its plans – social media related or otherwise. Earlier this week, the brand finally took the plunge and joined Instagram. Four days and six black-and-white posts later, the account has amassed over 196,000 followers.
Gone are the days when its devout followers had to guess what their favorite brand was up to. A simple scroll through Saint Laurent’s new social media account now reveals that the brand will be showing “Part 1” of the women’s collection in Los Angeles at the Palladium, a historical concert venue in Hollywood where the likes of Frank Sinatra have performed, on February 10th, which coincides with the week of the 58th Grammy Music Awards. “Part 2” of the women’s collection will be presented in Paris during Fashion Week on March 7th.
Saint Laurent at the Palladium is Hedi Slimane’s tribute to the vibrant music scene of Los Angeles, a place he calls home. Since its early days, music has been at the core of the house and Slimane has carried on this legacy by supporting the music industry with projects featuring both well-known icons, like Daft Punk and Courtney Love, and emerging talents.
