Dubai-based Lebanese fashion designer Dima Ayad made a name for herself when she launched her eponymous label in 2010 in order to fill a gap in the market that left the region’s discerning shopper in constant search for clothes that were both modern and easy to wear. The launch of her Spring/Summer 2016 lookbook sees her coming fully into her own as a designer, with her desert palette supporting a range of exotic accents like fringed leather, honeycomb cutouts, and brilliant cutaway panels – details that are becoming somewhat of an Ayad signature. Although her minimalist designs adhere closely to the lines of the body, her clothes move with a surprising ease, making them comfortable for the wearer without sacrificing an ounce of style. Talking to Savoir Flair, she shares, “The Dubai woman is always on my mind when I design. The city is so cosmopolitan that you have to design for women who are on the go, who have so much to do with so little time, and who want to look fabulous very quickly. I design for the versatility of pieces as much as possible.”
