Huda Al Nuaimi may sound like a new name, but she’s the designer previously behind the abaya and accessories brand Malaak. Now adding ready-to-wear to her résumé, and changing her label to her namesake, Nuaimi tells Savoir Flair exclusively, “It’s [ready-to-wear] something I have really wanted to venture into for a long time. I became more known for my abayas, and that became my comfort zone. I was younger while working on Malaak, but now that I have matured and gained experience and confidence, I felt it was the right time to be more experimental and build the Huda Al Nuaimi brand.”

Nuaimi’s Spring/Summer 2016 collection, which is inspired by the mood and emotions of the desert landscape, features military-inspired and heavily-fringed pieces that are styled with handmade costume jewelry. But among the entire ready-to-wear collection, the easy elegance of the abayas, that can double as lightweight coats, are fast becoming favorites among its loyal clientele.
