Beirut-born, London-based fashion designer Mira Mikati has only been on the scene for a couple of years, but her collections have made a huge impact already. Her whimsical creations reside in a sweet spot where street style, graphic art, and bohemian glamour intersect, making her collections instantly desirable and infectiously fun. Last season, her bomber project with Darcel Disappoints (artist Craig Redman) was a sell-out favorite on Colette’s website, and for Spring/Summer 2016 she’s back again with a collaborative collection of artistically appointed clothes inspired by an imaginary road trip across America. The artist Kaws (Brian Donnelly) is responsible for the adorable graphics that punctuate the white canvas of her clothes, with everything from cactus and cityscapes to street signs and slogans depicted on car coats, tunic dresses, and slim-cut trousers. When asked about her collaboration with Kaws, Mikati revealed why she selected him for the project, stating, “He adapts that childlike world so that adults can be part of the fun, too.”
