For the forthcoming Spring/Summer 2016 season, Abu-Dhabi born designer Reem Juan stuns with a gleaming array of feminine plissé skirts, coordinated separates, and traffic-stopping silhouettes. Inspired by photographer Karen Knorr’s ‘Avatars of Devi’ series, Juan’s collection extracts the saturated intensity of Knorr’s photography and her juxtaposition of unexpected elements with sculpted silk overlays that peel away to reveal embroidered nude chiffon underneath. The elegance and femininity of her drop-shoulder gowns is balanced by striped silk suits with cropped trousers, offering options for evening and day, which makes this high-octane collection surprisingly versatile.
