Hailing from the grand and seductive ancient city of Rome, Sconci Art Gallery is Dubai’s first Italian gallery aiming to honor the cultural ties between Italy and the UAE. General Manager Lorenzo Sconci tells Savoir Flair, “Visitors will find a special kind of atmosphere in our gallery due to the collection of artworks from not only Italian and Western artists, but also a series of works from Arab artists who lived, studied, and worked in Italy in the 60s and 70s. This meeting of cultures has always been a characterizing element of our gallery concept, and of which we are extremely proud – a heritage of art, friendship, and love that we now want to share with our guests in the UAE.”
By showcasing modern and contemporary works from international European and Arab artists, along with emerging talents, Sconci Art Gallery will appeal to a rich and diverse audience in Dubai. “We want everyone to feel the pleasure of walking among the touching works of Mario Schifano, André Masson, Andy Warhol, and a futurist testimony of Pippo Rizzo, looking at a soft ceramic from Sarai Sherman, and then suddenly meeting two beautiful testimonies of the great Syrian maestro Fateh Moudarres along with a couple of works of Madi Hussein’s Roman period,” Sconci explains.
The gallery will also feature ample programming that includes debates, discussions, and an ongoing schedule of groundbreaking exhibitions and auctions.
