The magical Greek island of Mykonos just got a little more magical with the addition of a newly launched flagship DSquared2 boutique. To mark the occasion, we caught up with the endlessly entertaining and energetic duo, Dean and Dan Caten, who had recently spent 24 hours in Mykonos for the boutique opening and the hosting of a private dinner and exclusive cocktail party for VIP clientele.
Read our interview with the twins below, and follow them around Mykonos in the photo diary above as they visit their favorite beach, place finishing touches on the marine-themed DSquared2 boutique, and engage in local sightseeing.
Describe your ideal 24 hours in Mykonos.
Relaxation, relaxation, and more relaxation! We don’t have a lot of free time during the year, so we want to simply enjoy the sun and the sea!
What part of the island do you visit every time without fail?
The Psarou Beach is our favorite place in Mykonos. We love to watch the sunset there.
Describe the island in just one word.
Amazing! We love Mykonos. We believe there is always something magical about this place and it has become something of a tradition for us. This year, we have one more reason to spend our holidays on the island; we opened our first flagship store in Mykonos.
What prompted your decision to open a store on the island?
It was the right time for it. We found a good partner and a beautiful location, which is a typical Greek building.
What about the interior design of the store?
The boutique’s design has a marine theme that perfectly fits the location. It has been designed specifically for the boutique. The colors and design convey the warmth and fun feeling of a true Mediterranean summer vacation.
What collections will the store carry?
The new store features Dsquared2’s womenswear, menswear, underwear, swimwear, eyewear, and fragrance collections. The swimwear collection is perfect for the island!
What do you think is the perfect look for a night of fun in Mykonos?
For women, it would be a beautiful and lively summer dress and a pair of crystal sandals. For the men, a nice pair of jeans (that can work for both day and night) or cargo shorts and a white shirt paired with loafers.
What is the one thing that should never be worn on the island?
Never say never!
