This month, Savoir Flair was invited exclusively into the home of beauty entrepreneur Mona Kattan, the personable Iraqi-American who founded The Dollhouse salon, and is currently managing partner of Huda Beauty with sister Huda Kattan. Living in a luxurious complex in DIFC, Kattan tells us she moved into her apartment – her first venture living alone – about four years ago. “I finished furnishing it in about two weeks,” Kattan says. “I knew very quickly what I liked and what I didn’t like. I’ve added decor over time, though. I love buying little trinkets or pieces when I’m traveling.”
As we walk through her eclectic home, it’s hard to ignore the endless amount of beautiful perfume bottles that sit in every room. When asked about this vast collection, Kattan laughs shyly and then professes her love for all things fragranced. “I haven’t counted, but I think I have around 350 bottles.” The majority of these bottles reside in her bathroom, which she says is her favorite room in the apartment. “I love my bathroom. It’s very spacious and has a huge bathtub, which is very important to me as I love taking bubble baths.”
We then get into a discussion about dream homes, and Kattan tells us she has big plans for the future. “I would definitely decorate it with a Philippe Starck touch, and I’d make sure it has plenty of balconies and a huge garden. I love being outside – fresh air is so important to me,” she explains. “I’d like to plant my own fruits and veggies too, as my mother always did when I was growing up.”

“My bed is so comfortable. I’ve decorated my room with inspirational women, to empower me every morning when I wake up.”
