Regé-Jean Page Is Not Returning to Bridgerton

Lady Whistledown published a note to the public that took the Ton by surprise. She revealed that the beloved Duke of Hastings, played by actor Regé-Jean Page, would not be returning for season two of the popular Netflix show, Bridgerton. Page also released a similar message on his own social channels to say goodbye to his Bridgerton family. While it may have come as a shock to Bridgerton fans, and quite frankly Page is the main reason we watched the entire season in one evening, the actor himself always knew he was only contracted for one season. Each season of the series has a limited storyline with a beginning, middle, and end as it follows the love life of one of the Bridgerton siblings. As the storyline of Daphne and the Duke have wrapped up, Page’s character will live on, albeit off-screen.

The actor himself, however, won’t be off-screen completely, as he just wrapped filming for The Grey Man starring Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling, and is slated to star in the upcoming film version of Dungeons and Dragons. Shonda Rhimes said it best when she reminded us all that “the Duke is never gone. He’s just waiting to be binge-watched all over again.” Indeed.

Tamara Williams Hospitalized With Meningitis

Beauty photographer Tamara Williams was rushed to the hospital a few days ago with what doctors thought was the beginning stages of COVID-19. However, after her test results turned up negative, it was soon discovered that what was causing Williams to be unable to talk, walk, or even open her eyes was actually severe meningitis. The outpouring of love and support on Williams’ Instagram was heart-warming, and since the post three days ago, Williams has been given high doses of antibiotics and painkillers, resulting in her being able to open her eyes and read the lovely messages. She responded last night by saying, ” Wow. I am out of words. Reading all of this… thank God. Thank you guys. This whole text that the medic team wrote has me in tears; I’m still on a strong treatment, but I can talk, I can walk, and I can open my eyes… I have one word and one word only: GRATEFULNESS.”

It was a historic night last night, when the pre-recorded SAG Awards were aired. For the first time in SAG Award history, all four of the prominent movie honors for acting were given to actors of color, setting the stage for this year’s Oscars. Among the winners were Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman, winning Lead Actress and Lead Actor for their electrifying performances in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Yuh-Jung Youn won Best Supporting Actress for her powerful performance in Oscar favorite, Minari, and Daniel Kaluuya took home the Best Supporting Actor award for his standout performance in Judas and the Black Messiah. Perhaps the Oscars won’t be so white this year after all.
