Okay. Hold up, wait a minute. We just saw the third trailer that dropped for the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tell-all interview airing this Sunday the 7th, and now we just don’t know what to think. After the first and second trailer, we empathized with Harry, nodded our head, and said “Yes, yes. We understand you. It’s okay. You do you and enjoy your life in the land of the free and home of the brave.” Honestly, it wasn’t anything we weren’t expecting or hadn’t heard before from the Prince.
But now that the third trailer has dropped, it only took five seconds for us to go, “Did she just…? OMG. She just…! Wait. What?!” [Googles furiously where to watch the interview online].
For the first time since their royal exit, the couple is opening up in what promises to be an explosive and revealing interview with the queen of getting the story, Oprah Winfrey herself – no royal pun intended. Oprah says in one trailer, “I just want to make it clear to everybody that there is no subject that’s off limits.”
We thought it would be more of what we read in Omid Scobie‘s book, until we heard Oprah ask Meghan, “How do you feel about the Palace hearing you speak your truth today?” To which Meghan responded with a bomb drop. “I don’t know how they could expect that after all of this time we would still just be silent if there was an active role that ‘The Firm’ is playing in perpetuating falsehoods about us, and if that comes with risk of losing things… I mean, there’s a lot that’s been lost already.”

Yep, Meghan just hinted that the Palace might have had a hand in all the media drama the couple has been slammed with and continues to fight. It is unprecedented enough for anyone to give a first-hand inside look into the notoriously tight-lipped British royal family, but to call them out is an entirely new ball game. In fact, that’s not actually a ball game at all anymore. That’s war. Only this war is being fought for public opinion, and this interview might just be the straw that tips the scales one way or another.
Case in point, somehow a two-year-old bullying accusation has resurfaced mere days before the interview. The Palace issued a statement two days ago that it will be investigating the accusations and behavior because it will not tolerate bullying of their staff. (In case you didn’t hear, a source recently approached The Times to talk about the bullying accusations against Meghan a few years ago.)
Great. The Palace should do an inquiry if people have been hurt, and it should not tolerate bullying under any circumstances. The timing of this announcement however is, well, timely. Why is a formal inquiry only starting now? Could it be that they need to paint Meghan in an unfavorable light in the public’s opinion so that anything she might say in the interview is already disregarded before it has a chance to be taken seriously?
All we are saying is the timing of the announcement makes us think it’s a strategic public opinion move, which ironically validates Meghan’s fiery statement, as much as we don’t want to believe our favorite royals possible of such Machiavellian tactics.
However, if the Firm is as concerned with keeping a high moral standard as it claims to be, then where’s the announcement of the formal investigation into Prince Andrew and his Pizza Express days? Or is that not something we are allowed to talk about?
CBS.com is streaming the interview live tonight, but our money is on the internet breaking from everyone around the world tuning in.
